Abstract
Au Vietnam, la famille étendue joue un rôle important, elle régule notamment les comportements de ses membres à travers la hiérarchisation des générations et le rôle et les attentes attribués à chacun d’eux. Dans ce modèle sociétal et familial, le mariage constitue une étape importante, tout comme l’arrivée des enfants. Aujourd’hui toutefois, de nombreux couples vietnamiens disent éprouver des difficultés à concevoir un enfant. À partir d’entretiens semi-structurés menés à Hanoi au printemps 2016 avec dix couples mariés (hommes et femmes séparément), deux femmes mariées et deux femmes divorcées sans enfant, cet article propose de cerner, à travers une approche processuelle du vécu de l’infécondité, l’ampleur des pressions sociales et familiales procréatives auxquelles les couples sont confrontés. En montrant les conséquences socio-émotionnelles de l’infécondité, il contribue également à montrer l’oppression de genre et les rapports de pouvoir intergénérationnels que subissent les couples, et principalement les femmes, qui n’arrivent pas à avoir un enfant.
