Falar de danca e falar de educacao, seja de educacao do corpo com um refinamento da sensibilidade expressiva, e no caso da educacao somatica, tambem de uma consciencia sensorio-motora. No plano pedagogico, a pratica de ensino da danca de Maria Fux, a Danzaterapia, utiliza a metafora e o ritmo, com enfase na criatividade do danzaterapeuta para conduzir o aluno ao movimento. Em um contexto de articulacao interdisciplinar, e possivel destacar a pratica de Maria Fux no campo da educacao e da arte. As abordagens somaticas estao relacionadas ao ser humano que, obrigatoriamente, insere-se em um contexto social particular, fato determinante de valores, de crencas e de codigos corporais aprendidos. Autores como Merleau-Ponty, Le Blanc, Heritier, entre outros, apontam que o trabalho com o movimento tem um impacto direto sobre o corpo, tanto quanto a visao de si e da cultura. A acao do professor de danca, em seus diversos contextos, esta impregnada de crencas pessoais que influenciam a transmissao do conhecimento. Atualmente o status da Danzaterapia e ambiguo, de um lado porque sua natureza experiencial conduz a uma interpretacao subjetiva, e de outro, por uma flagrante falta de estudos academicos a seu sujeito. Este trabalho visa a apresentar a pesquisa doutoral que se desenvolve atualmente na Universite du Quebec a Montreal com foco no ensino de danca criada pela bailarina argentina Maria Fux e sua ligacao com o campo da educacao somatica.
