L’intérêt pour le patrimoine universitaire des universités de Besançon et de Dijon nous a récemment conduits à entreprendre un programme de recherche sur le patrimoine pédagogique lié à l’enseignement de l’histoire de l’art et de l’archéologie à l’échelle de notre région Bourgogne - Franche-Comté (voir ici : https://ista.univ-fcomte.fr/projet-scientifique/projet-moulages). Dans l’étude des photographies argentiques diffusées par les maisons parisiennes (telle Giraudon), des plaques photographiques, des ouvrages de littérature spécialisée acquis par nos bibliothèques et des collections de moulages en plâtre constituées à la fin du xixe siècle, nous avons mis en relation les collections des écoles d’art de Dijon et de Besançon. Cette dernière, fondée au xviiie siècle, possède encore une importante collection de plâtres, principalement de sculpture gréco-romaine, que nous souhaitons étudier dans le cadre de cet article ; les archives municipales de Besançon conservent un fonds important qui nous permettra d’en retracer l’histoire et les usages, depuis les envois du ministère de l’Instruction publique jusqu’au déménagement de l’école en 1972. Parallèlement, nous étudions la collection de l’École d’art de Dijon, qui a effectué dans les années 1990 un dépôt d’une grande partie de sa collection de moulages au musée de Montbard ; un inventaire raisonné, en cours de réalisation, constitue une première étape de cette recherche. Notre contribution à ce numéro interrogera, dans un premier temps, certains aspects historiques de la présence de ces collections de plâtres en Bourgogne - Franche-Comté, pour ensuite considérer les modalités de leur conservation en 2020.
