Abstract
During May 28–June 1, 2018, a workshop on mathematical biology was held at the National Center for Theoretical Sciences (NCTS) in Hsinchu, Taiwan, on the campus of National Tsing Hua University. A main feature of the workshop was to celebrate Professor Szi-Bi Hsu's 70th birthday, and his achievements in the area of mathematical biology and beyond.Prof. Hsu obtained his PhD from the University of Iowa in 1976, under the supervision of Professors Paul Waltman (Mathematics) and Stephen Hubbell (Ecology). During 1976-1979, he worked as an Instructor at the University of Utah. He returned to Taiwan in 1979 to take up an Associate Professor position at National Chiao Tung University, and was promoted to a full Professor there in 1980. He moved to National Tsing Hua University in 1985 and had stayed there until his retirement in 2018.
