Abstract
Das intermediale Denken ist keine dreißig Jahre alt, aber die in den Blick genommenen intermedialen Phänomene sind so alt wie die ältesten Medien, die aus intermedialer Perspektive die künstlerischen und literarischen Praktiken einschließen, darunter das Theater und die darstellenden Künste. Das der Blütezeit technologischer Entwicklungen und digitaler Applikationen entsprungene intermediale Denken ist ein mediales Denken. Als solches war es zunächst auf Medien fokussiert, auf deren Entstehung, ihre Interaktionen, ihre Wirkung auf das Umfeld, dem sie entspringen und das sie verändern. Dann drängte sich allmählich eine unerwartete Frage auf: Existieren die Medien? Die Aufmerksamkeit der Intermedialisten verlagerte sich so ab Mitte der 2000er Jahre zunehmend von den Medien auf die Mediation, was der intermedialen Forschung neue Arbeitsgebiete erschloss, die eine Neubetrachtung oder gar Neukonfiguration unseres Verständnisses von Kommunikationsdynamiken notwendig macht. Daraus ergeben sich neue Perspektiven und Praxisfelder, die den traditionellen Rahmen der Kommunikation sprengen. Nach der medialen Intermedialität und der postmedialen Intermedialität wären wir also bei der Exkommunikationsintermedialität angelangt.
