Oscar Niemeyer ( Rio de Janeiro ,  15 de dezembro de  1907 –  Rio de Janeiro ,  5 de dezembro de  2012 ) foi um arquiteto muito importante pelo desenvolvimento da arquitetura moderna e suas obras sao muito conhecidas em todo o Brasil e no mundo. Vinculado as ideias do arquiteto frances Le Corbusier, e com contribuicoes de Lucio Costa em projetos, o arquiteto carioca fez edificacoes no pais que sao inspiradoras para muitos. Entre elas, as elevacoes que foram construidas no Centro Historico de Sao Paulo, pelo cliente, Banco Nacional Imobiliario. O tema de pesquisa e sobre o conjunto de cinco edificios presentes no anel central: O Edificio Copan, Ed. Montreal, Ed. Eiffel, Ed. Triângulo, e por ultimo o Ed. e Galeria California. Todos projetadas por Niemeyer, com algumas participacoes de outros, entre eles, Lucio Costa, durante a decada de 50, periodo em que o processo de modernizacao foi intenso em Sao Paulo. Esta pesquisa examina como o arquiteto Oscar Niemeyer, com suas idealidades modernas e de desenhos livres, adaptou seu trabalho ao intenso mercado imobiliario da metropole em expansao, Sao Paulo; e as implantacoes destes edificios em funcao da legislacao urbana da epoca, criada a 20 anos antes.
