L’écriture de récits aux deuxième et troisième cycles du primaire dans une approche pédagogique développementale engageante

Le souci, certes bienveillant, d’encadrer l’écriture de textes de fiction par un plan de récit ayant une structure narrative prédéfinie pourrait brimer l’imaginaire et la créativité des élèves du primaire, freiner chez ceux-ci la prise de risques inhérente à la production de textes littéraires et affecter non seulement le développement des récits mais également l’engagement face aux activités d’écriture. Par ailleurs, l’insécurité ressentie face à l’enseignement de l’écriture et la complexité du déploiement d’activités de production de textes en classe sont régulièrement soulevées. Ainsi, devant la nécessité, d’une part, de proposer aux enseignants des démarches pédagogiques en écriture engageantes et, d’autre part, de permettre aux élèves du primaire de développer leur compétence scripturale dans un cadre d’écriture littéraire s’appuyant sur leur créativité et favorisant leur engagement, une approche pédagogique développementale a été développée. L’analyse des données recueillies auprès de trente-quatre élèves, qui ont bénéficié de cette approche pendant trois années scolaires successives, en plus de mettre en exergue la capacité de ceux-ci à élaborer leur propre schéma causal pour structurer leurs récits, a démontré le haut niveau de motivation et le grand sentiment de compétence en écriture qu’ils ont développé. Certes, cette approche pédagogique, qui suscite l’engagement tant des élèves que des enseignants, demande une grande ouverture de la part du milieu scolaire, mais elle pourrait répondre aux besoins de soutien et de renouvèlement régulièrement exprimés concernant l’enseignement et l’apprentissage de l’écriture dans la classe du primaire.
