Taamusi Qumaq est un intellectuel, un « intellectuel du terroir ». Il connait, pense le territoire. Il connait et pense l'Inuk et son rapport au monde. La pensee qu'il devoile au travers de son autobiographie n'est surtout pas manicheenne. Il reflechit la complexite du monde qu'il experimente et incorpore, souleve de grands enjeux qui s'imposent au peuple inuit. Il souhaite transformer le monde, son monde, le Nunavik, pour que Inuit soient libres de nouveau, sans personne pour leur dicter quoi faire... Publie pour la premiere fois, en 2010, aux Presses de l'Universite du Quebec, l'ouvrage Je veux que les Inuit soient libre de nouveau , du penseur et defenseur des droits des Inuit, Taamusi Qumaq (1914-1993) s'est de nouveau retrouve aux premieres loges des librairies en 2020. Mais, cette fois, ce petit livre reprend vie, tant en francais qu'en inuktitut.
