Abstract
In dieser Arbeit wurden Zuchter und die neuen Besitzer von 8 verschiedenen Hunderassen (Beagle, Berner Sennenhund, Cavalier King Charles Spaniel, Deutsche Dogge, Deutscher Schaferhund (DSH), Labrador, Papillon, Sheltie) zum Thema Welpenfutterung in der Schweiz befragt. Neben der Beantwortung des Fragebogens (Haltung und Futterung der Welpen) beinhaltete die Teilnahme das wochentliche Wiegen der Tiere sowie das genaue Protokollieren der verfutterten Futtermenge. Es nahmen 67 Hundezuchter und 131 neue Besitzer der Welpen teil. Die Gewichtsentwicklung der Welpen verlief bei den DSH, Labradors und Shelties nahezu parallel zur ideal geltenden Wachstumskurve. Bei den anderen Rassen gab es wahrend der Aufzucht zum Teil massive Abweichungen zur idealen Wachstumskurve. Der tagliche mittlere Energiebedarf war unter Miteinbeziehung der Wachstumskurven bei diesen zu hoch angesetzt.
