Abstract
Résumé L’article s’intéresse aux travaux sur l’efficacité des traitements pour les problèmes de santé mentale. Ces études évaluatives se sont inscrites dans un climat de controverse en raison de théories et modèles contradictoires pour expliquer la personnalité et les troubles mentaux. La thérapie est efficace et aucune technique qui a fait l’objet d’une évaluation systématique n’est supérieure à une autre. Ces résultats prennent en compte les caractéristiques des clients à leur arrivée en traitement ainsi que l’expertise du clinicien et sa capacité à établir une alliance thérapeutique avec son client, quelles que soient sa technique et son approche théorique. De plus, les préjugés du clinicien affectent également son interaction avec le patient. Lorsque l’alliance thérapeutique et la qualité de la relation avec les clients restent au premier plan, le dialogue avec les soignants de différentes obédiences théoriques reste ouvert et fructueux.
