Characteristics of abortion cases in a reference maternity hospital in Northern B

Abstract
Objetivos: descrever as características dos casos de abortamento e analisar a ocorrência de complicações decorrentes de aborto em uma maternidade de referência. Métodos: trata-se de uma pesquisa documental, censitária e de abordagem quantitativa. O estudo foi realizado com 393 mulheres. Os dados foram analisados à luz da estatística descritiva e análise inferencial. A projeto de pesquisa foi submetido e aprovado pelo Comitê de Ética em Pesquisa da Fundação Santa Casa de Misericórdia do Pará, com o número do CAAE 60112316.9.0000.5171. Resultados: ocorreram abortamentos, em sua maioria, em mulheres de idade entre 16 e 23 anos, solteiras, que relataram não serem diabéticas nem fazer uso de álcool, tabaco, outras drogas. A maioria dos abortamentos era do tipo incompleto e retido. Notou-se, entretanto, que nos abortamentos do tipo infectado houve maiores frequências absolutas de abortos complicados. Não foi observada associação entre complicações por aborto com as variáveis do estudo. Conclusão: os resultados deste estudo avultam para a realização de novas pesquisas sobre outras variáveis na análise da ocorrência de abortamentos e suas complicações, além de estudos que utilizem outros desenhos de pesquisa e investiguem fatores protetores para a gestação.
