Abstract
The incidence of childhood-onset inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) has increased significantly over the past decade.1 Despite advances in therapy families remain concerned about long-term harms of immunosuppressive therapy and their associated costs.2 The role of the enteric microbiome in IBD is well described and has been implicated in the pathogenesis of ulcerative colitis (UC).3 While drug development continues to focus on modifying dysregulated intestinal immune pathways, targeting enteric microbiota has become increasingly attractive.
