L’étude, une recherche collaborative, a été menée en milieu montréalais avec des intervenants d’une école préscolaire. Le problème et l’espace problématique se trouvent au cœur des préoccupations des praticiens. La recherche collaborative rapportée ici a exigé un partenariat étroit entre les praticiens et la chercheure pour atteindre le but, établi au départ par les praticiens. Elle a demandé également la reconnaissance mutuelle de l’apport de chaque participant. Beaucoup de souplesse et d’adaptabilité de la part de chacun ont été nécessaires tout au cours du processus, lequel n’était pas soutenu par un dispositif de démarche formatrice au profit des praticiens. Le processus a plutôt laissé la place à la co-construction progressive et conjointe de savoirs par les praticiens et la chercheure2, en cohérence avec la problématisation dynamique de la situation étudiée. L’analyse des propos, sous l’angle de la problématisation, met en évidence trois moments forts de la problématisation, au début, au cours et à la fin du processus, et pour chacun d’eux le problème construit ou reconstruit par les participants. Selon cette analyse, la reconstruction progressive du problème est rattachée aux manifestations des capacités métacognitives des enfants et aux modifications des pratiques éducatives.
