Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

Incivility and psychological safety are related to employee relationships, work performance and wellbeing (Lim, Cortina Magley, 2008; Carmeli, Brueller and Dutton 2009). Trust is a central component to the development of positive interpersonal relationships and the social environment has a strong influence on employee satisfaction (Utriainen Kyngas, 2009; Tyler, 1996). The present study examined the role trust plays in the relationship between nurse's experiences of their social environment and their satisfaction at work. Surveys were completed by 1015 nursing staff across four Canadian health care organizations. Results revealed that coworker trust mediated the negative relationship between coworker incivility and job satisfaction. Trust was also found to mediate the positive relationship between psychological safety and satisfaction in the nursing population. Findings contribute to the current nursing literature surrounding the adverse effects of incivility in the workplace as well as expand on the benefits of establishing psychological safety in the workplace.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
