Le terme tourisme apparaît pour la première fois en Angleterre au XVIIIème siècle. Mais cette activité est connue depuis l’antiquité. Les Grecs, les Romains ou encore les Egyptiens ont connu des déplacements d’une région à une autre pour de multiples raisons : commerciales, curatives, de divertissements et de découvertes Aujourd’hui, dans le monde, Le tourisme est de plus en plus considéré comme un moteur du développement durable, une source de création de richesses, d’emplois, de revenus durables et de croissance économique. Ainsi, le tourisme durable englobe toutes les formes de tourisme qui respectent et préservent les ressources patrimoniales d’un territoire. En Algérie, la prise de conscience nationale de l’enjeu du développement touristique a abouti à l’élaboration et à l’adoption du Schéma Directeur d’Aménagement Touristique « SDAT 2025». A cet effet, nous posons la problématique suivante : Comment le tourisme pourrait-il être au cœur du développement durable en Algérie? Cette question soulève les questions sous-jacentes suivantes : - Que signifie le concept du développement durable et quels sont ses objectifs? - Que signifie le concept du tourisme durable ? - Quelles sont les potentialités touristiques de l’Algérie? - Et enfin, quelles sont les orientations stratégiques d’aménagement touristique dans le cadre du développement durable, en Algérie ?
