Introducao: Durante a pratica do surfe, o atleta realiza o movimento de remada 51,4% do tempo, sobrecarregando a musculatura do ombro e causando um desequilibrio muscular. Objetivo: Avaliar a prevalencia de discinesia escapular e dor no ombro em surfistas amadores da regiao Sul do Brasil. Materiais e Metodos: Trata-se de um estudo observacional descritivo transversal. A amostra foi realizada por conveniencia sendo incluidos sujeitos do sexo masculino, de 18 a 42 anos. Foi avaliada a discinesia escapular da forma estatica e dinâmica, classificando-a em 4 tipos, dor no ombro atraves da escala numerica da dor (NRS), comprimento do musculo peitoral menor, qualidade de vida atraves do The Western Ontario Shoulder Instability Index (WOSI), alem de caracteristicas da amostra de um questionario online. A normalidade das variaveis continuas foi testada atraves do teste de Shapiro-Wilk e apresentadas em media e desvio padrao e as variaveis categoricas em percentual. Associacoes entre as variaveis categoricas foram testadas atraves do teste Chi-quadrado e o teste de Correlacao de Pearson para as variaveis continuas. Os valores de significância de p< 0,05 e Intervalo de Confianca de 95% foram adotados. Resultados: 71,4% da amostra apresentou discinesia escapular, sendo 57,1% a do tipo I e 42,9% apresentaram dor no ombro durante o momento da avaliacao. Conclusao: Houve uma prevalencia de 71,4% de discinesia escapular na populacao estudada e embora apenas 42,9% tenham relato dor no ombro, os dados podem contribuir para futuramente promover um melhor plano de prevencao de lesoes no esporte.
