Abstract
Introduction: The Pilates Method, Created By Joseph Hubertus Pilates In 1918, Aims To Achieve Accurate Control Of The Body During Each Movement Slowly And Progressively Performed And With The Philosophy Of Body And Mind Training, Which Performs Muscle Work At Low Speed. The Pilates Method Consists Of Exercises Performed On The Ground Or With The Use Of Special Equipment Observing Six Principles Such As Concentration, Precision, Flow, Control, Breathing And Centering. Objectives: To Evaluate The Effect Of The Pilates Equipment In Pain And Physical Function Of The Elderly With Knee Oa. To Evaluate The Quality Of Life Of The Elderly Who Receive Treatment Using The Pilates Equipment. Methods: Fifty-Four Volunteers Were Divided Into Two Groups: The Control Group (Cg = 27) And The Experimental Group (Eg = 27) Both Sexes, With The Average Age 70.4 Years Old For Cg And 68.5 Years Old For Eg. The Data Were Collected With The Visual Analog Pain Scale (Vaps), Western Ontario Questionnaire Index And Mcmaster Universities
