Faz uma referência crítica às dimensões morais da educação médica e às atuais dinâmicas neoliberais da Universidade. Faz uma revisão sobre as aptidões básicas de comunicação clínica. Valoriza a partilha de informações e a discussão de temas sensíveis. Desenvolve o tema da tomada de decisões partilhada. Avalia os modos de dar más notícias, com considerações sobre o protocolo SPIKES. Detalha a importância da comunicação com a família do doente. Aborda a comunicação com crianças e jovens. Realça a diversidade da comunicação no contexto clínico. Aborda a comunicação com pessoas de diferentes estatutos culturais.
