Abstract
Introdução: A fratura periprotética de quadril é uma complicação observada após abordagens cirúrgicas, como artroplastia de quadril e cirurgias de revisão. Essa complicação está relacionada a fatores que são avaliados por meio do sistema de Vancouver, possibilitando definir a melhor forma de abordagem e cuidados da complicação. Apresentação do caso: Paciente EXS, de 42 anos de idade, sexo masculino, natural e procedente de Goiânia, Goiás, realizou cirurgia para implementação de prótese total no quadril direito há 2 anos evoluindo com dor intensa após queda da própria altura sendo evidenciado fratura periprotética do fêmur classificada em Vancouver do tipo A. Discussão: Diante do aumento da expectativa de vida, houve maior realização de artroplastias de quadril, acarretando no crescimento dos números de casos de complicações pós cirúrgicas. Com isso, a devida avaliação de fraturas periprotéticas se tornou mais relevante para assim se obter resultados mais satisfatórios mediante o quadro. Conclusão: Após o reconhecimento de uma fratura periprotética de quadril, faz-se necessário a classificação por meio do sistema de Vancouver para a realização de uma abordagem rápida e mais assertiva, devolvendo a qualidade de vida ao paciente.
