En este articulo se analiza como los movimientos militantes homosexuales de los anos setenta inauguran en Francia y en Quebec una politizacion de la mayoria sexual que fue precursora para una serie de reformas emprendidas mas tarde en los anos ochenta. A comienzos de los setenta, estos movimientos se enfrentaron a un desafio muy similar en ambos paises: la edad de la mayoria sexual, mas elevada para los homosexuales, planteo el problema de la libertad sexual de los menores. En efecto, la historia de los movimientos gays en estos paises sigue una trayectoria paralela. Fundados en estrecha relacion con los movimientos politicos revolucionarios, los movimientos gays se reestructuran a mediados de los anos setenta en torno a reivindicaciones mas especificas, ligadas en particular a la discriminacion legal de los homosexuales con respecto a la edad de la mayoria sexual. En los anos ochenta, se da como resultado nuevas leyes que redefinen casi en simultaneo tanto la mayoria sexual como la violacion. Se dibuja asi un proceso similar en Francia y en Canada: si bien se alcanza una reforma de la mayoria sexual, su principio se reafirma en tanto baluarte contra una nueva figura del peligro, la del pedofilo.
