¿Ideología o racionalidad? Interrogaciones epistemológicas sobre la relación neoliberalismo-democracia a partir de la perspectiva foucaultiana

En este trabajo propongo desplegar algunos aspectos de la discusión epistemológica sobre cómo entender el neoliberalismo con el objetivo de repensar su relación con la democracia, a partir de ciertos textos que se inscriben en la tradición crítica de M. Foucault. Para eso, en primer lugar, presento las críticas de Foucault al concepto de ideología en función de las cuales se formula la perspectiva del neoliberalismo como una racionalidad. Esa perspectiva foucaultiana —en la que me detengo en el segundo apartado— es retomada por pensadores contemporáneos como W. Brown, C. Laval y P. Dardot, quienes estudian el neoliberalismo como un nuevo modo de gobierno de los hombres, pero ellos se preguntan por eso que estaba fuera de la preocupación de Foucault: el modo en el que esta racionalidad afecta a las democracias. En efecto, la hipótesis compartida por estos autores es que la extensión de la razón neoliberal deshace todo espacio para la política democrática, de modo que habría una relación inmanente entre antidemocratismo y neoliberalismo. En el último apartado, identifico ciertos límites epistemológicos de la perspectiva de la racionalidad para estudiar el estado de las democracias contemporáneas repensado la utilidad del concepto de ideología para entender el neoliberalismo contemporáneo.
