Abstract
En 1763, les Britanniques font la Conquête de la Nouvelle-France. Pour le peuple canadien-français, qui se trouve soudain coupé de sa mère patrie---la France, découleront de ce changement de régime de nombreuses conséquences sociologiques, politiques et linguistiques. Les dirigeants anglais, conscients que leurs nouveaux sujets ne parlent pas la même langue qu'eux, désirent angliciser le peuple canadien-français dans le but, bien sûr, de maintenir l'ordre, la suprématie et le pouvoir politique anglais. Pour parvenir à leurs fins, les autorités anglaises ont utilisé divers moyens dont la traduction dans les journaux de l'époque. Ainsi, nous essayerons de démontrer que la traduction dans la presse écrite au Québec a joué un rôle important pour angliciser les Canadiens français.
