Abstract
espanolEste articulo analiza la relacion entre trabajo, identidad y ciudadania a traves de una investigacion empirica sobre jovenes italianos y immigrantes residentes en Italia. El objetivo es subrayar la relacion entre precariedad laboral y los riesgos de nuevas formas de marginalidad social y politica, que afectan a los jovenes socialmente mas debiles. Los resultados de la investigacion indican que el proceso de precarizacion del trabajo, cuando no esta ligado a una transformacion de las prestaciones sociales, se refleja en una crisis de integracion social, en el desarrollo de una actitud individualista y politicamente pasiva, en un socavamiento del sentido de pertenencia democratica. La precariedad labo- ral puede asi volverse en precariedad existencial y politica. EnglishFollowing the lines of a survey on young people both Italian and immigrated living in Italy, this article aims to stress the relationship among labour, identity and j citizenshiP. It points at the risk of job insecurity as a pre-condition of social and political marginali- zation, especially for young people suffering social weakness. As a result, the loss of job security provokes social integration crisis, development of selfish attitudes, mercase of political apathy, lack of interest for the engagement in a democratic community. This happens because of the objective changes in work practice which make old models of wage labour no longer generally applicable to traditional schemes: today, the question invol- ved how job insecurity moves from labour-market to the inner individual existence.
