En una de las muchas entrevistas que a lo largo de los anos han hecho al poeta Luis Garcia Montero, le preguntaron como se puede escribir poesia en Granada bajo el peso de la figura (que no de la estatua) de Federico Garcia Lorca. La respuesta que recuerdo es que ese peso no debe ser tomado nunca como una carga, sino como un aliciente que nos eleve, que nos haga crecer leyendo y aprendiendo de su palabra mientras buscamos una voz propia y creamos nuestra propia obra. Sin haber planteado a Ali Calderon una pregunta parecida, podemos deducir leyendo su obra que su respuesta no se habria alejado mucho de la que acabamos de citar. Ser un «joven poeta mexicano» requiere el triple de energia para emerger a la superficie de la que necesitaria cualquier poeta de su generacion en muchos otros paises: energia civica para soportar el peso de un pais que vive instalado en una violencia permanente desde hace anos y en el que escribir poesia sea un gesto de protesta, una manera de ver el mundo alrededor sin sentirse incomodo por hacerlo a traves de los versos, sino reconfortado porque, como el mismo dice, «en 1490, los sabios del mundo nahuatl se reunieron para dar respuesta a una pregunta esencial: ?que vale la pena en el mundo?», Esos sabios, llamados tlamatinime, llegaron a la conclusion de que unicamente valen la pena «las flores y los cantos», es decir, la poesia.». Se necesita una aportacion extra de energia vital para que la juventud no pierda la esperanza de un futuro
