El artículo presenta un análisis crítico de las tensiones y rupturas en relación con los fundamentos, las perspectivas y la trama conceptual subyacentes al campo de la didáctica de ciencias humanas y sociales en la primaria en Quebec a raíz de la aparición del Informe de la Comisión Real de Encuesta sobre la enseñanza en 1964. Se trata en particular de las tensiones entre finalidad de socialización y finalidad de emancipación, entre sujeto qui sabe adaptarse y sujeto qui sabe reflexionar, entre saber cosificado y saber construido, entre procesos naturales y procesos de carácter científico, etc. Influenciadas a veces por teorías llamadas personalistas y otras llamadas tecnológicas, otras veces por teorías llamadas constructivistas, estas tensiones y rupturas dan testimonio de una diversidad de concepciones y de puntos de vista directamente relacionados con los fundamentos subyacentes al pensamiento de los que, colectiva e históricamente, contribuyen a la evolución de este campo de enseñanza y de investigación.
