Abstract
La mention des sciences contemporaines, dans la troisième partie de L’Être et le Néant, peut paraître superflue, voire malheureuse. Sartre n’entend d’ailleurs pas fournir un exposé épistémologique : les références à la microphysique et au principe de la relativité doivent servir la description de la spatialisation propre du pour-soi, et c’est sous ce point de vue que le commentaire doit les envisager. En effet, tous les exemples retenus nous semblent orientés par la question de l’assignation des dimensions d’une mesure, significative de l’incorporation du Dasein à l’espace qu’il projette. L’intérêt de la tentative sartrienne résiderait pour lors, non point dans la prise de conscience d’une concordance entre la méthode phénoménologique et le progrès des sciences, mais, bien davantage, dans une nouvelle interprétation de la catégorie de la relation. Maintenant, il reste très douteux que le concept d’espace ainsi élaboré entretienne un rapport rigoureusement déterminé avec l’espace objectif du physicien. Ainsi la phénoménologie ne fournit-elle pas, en cet endroit, une exposition transcendantale (au sens kantien) du concept d’espace qui, seule, pourrait apporter une première justification à l’usage des considérations métrologiques.
