Abstract
Le test de Hayling mesure l’inhibition verbale et est largement utilisé chez l’adulte. Les données psychométriques sont restreintes pour la version Junior et les normes pour les enfants québécois sont inexistantes. L’objectif de cette étude était de produire des normes préliminaires du Test de Hayling Junior pour les enfants québécois selon certaines variables sociodémographiques et de mesurer la fidélité et la validité de ce test. L’échantillon était composé de 32 participants (14 filles, 18 garçons) âgés de 8 à 12 ans (M=9,47, É.-T.=1,32). L’âge était corrélé aux scores de vitesse et les scores ne variaient pas selon le sexe ou le niveau d’éducation des parents. Les indices de fidélité étaient généralement adéquats. Les scores au Hayling Junior étaient corrélés à certaines mesures de l’inhibition, mais pas à la mémoire de travail ni à l’échelle hyperactivité/impulsivité d’un questionnaire pour parent. Ce test permettra aux cliniciens d’évaluer l’inhibition verbale et contribuera à l’étude de son développement chez l’enfant québécois. The Hayling test measures verbal inhibition and is widely used with adults. Psychometric data is limited for the Junior version and norms for the Quebec pediatric population are non-existent. The aim of this study was to produce norms for the Hayling Junior Test for Quebec children according to certain socio-demographic variables and to measure the reliability and validity of this test. The sample consisted of 32 participants (14 girls, 18 boys) aged 8 to 12 years (M = 9.47, SD = 1.32). Age was correlated with speed scores and scores did not vary according to sex or parental education level. The fidelity indices were generally adequate. Hayling Junior's scores correlated with some measures of inhibition, but not with working memory or the hyperactivity / impulsivity scale of a questionnaire for parent. This test will allow clinicians to assess verbal inhibition and will aid in the study of its development with Quebec children.
