Abstract
Usaha sarang burung walet mempunyai prospek yang cerah untuk dikembangkan di wilayah kabupaten Malinau, provinsi Kalimantan Utara. Hal tersebut didukung oleh kondisi lingkungan dan geografis yang sesuai, serta sumber daya yang tersedia untuk mendukung kehidupan sarang burung walet. Sarang burung walet merupakan usaha pilihan untuk menambah penghasilan dan menjadi usaha yang meningkatkan ekonomi masyarakat sekitar. Walet adalah burung liar berukuran kecil (panjang total tubuh ± 12 cm), tergolong dalam famili Apodidae, warna abu-abu tua mengarah kehitaman. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan finansial usaha sarang burung walet. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah metode survei. Lokasi penelitian dipilih secara sengaja yaitu di Kecamatan Malinau Barat Kabupaten Malinau, dengan pertimbangan bahwa daerah ini merupakan salah satu kecamatan yang memiliki letak geografis yang sesuai dengan kehidupan burung walet. Analisis yang digunakan adalah: Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate Of Return (IRR) dan Net Benefit Cost Ratio (Net B/C). Jumlah sampel yang digunakan adalah sebanyak 20 responden pengusaha sarang burung walet. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: NPV sebesar Rp. 104.793.728, IRR sebesar 53.75% dan Net B/C sebesar 2.30 Berdasarkan kegiatan tersebut usaha sarang burung walet ini layak untuk diusahakan secara finansial.
