Abstract
Makalah ini menganalisis serangkaian sejarah lisan yang saya kumpulkan selama kerja lapangan antropologi di Indonesia dari 1984 hingga 1986. Awalnya saya tidak bermaksud mengumpulkan sejarah-sejarah ini. Ketika saya pertama kali tiba di Sulawesi Tengah, saya menjelaskan kepada pejabat setempat dan setiap orang etnis Laujé yang penasaran dengan tujuan saya di antara mereka bahwa saya datang untuk menulis ‘buku’ tentang kebudayaan Laujé dataran rendah dan dataran tinggi. Kebanyakan orang mengartikan minat saya pada budaya sebagai minat pada sejarah. Orang Lauje adalah orang asli di sana, kebanyakan berhidup di gunung, atau di desa yang “di atas kota Tinombo.” Satu kelompok orang khususnya, anggota aristokrasi Laujé yang dicabut haknya, meminta saya keluar untuk memberi tahu saya versi sejarah mereka “sebenarnya” sehingga dapat dicatat dalam buku saya.
