Abstract
Cet article propose un retour réflexif sur la démarche Photovoice et son potentiel à faire émerger la « voix » de personnes immigrantes, au terme d’un projet de recherche portant sur les perceptions et les expériences de l’accueil de nouveaux·elles arrivant·e·s dans deux territoires montréalais (Canada). L'objectif était de faire identifier aux participant·e·s des lieux accueillants ou moins accueillants par la prise de photographies. Nous revenons ici sur deux éléments qui permettent de réfléchir à la démarche Photovoice : d’une part, l’importance donnée à la dimension émotionnelle et symbolique des lieux pour les participant·e·s, ce qui détonnait de notre revue de littérature de départ sur les « collectivités accueillantes » (Esses et al) ; d’autre part, les différentes modalités d’appropriation de la démarche Photovoice par les participant·e·s. Nous concluons sur les défis et certains enjeux épistémologiques liés à l’emploi du Photovoice dans le cadre d’une recherche dont le point de départ se veut être la « voix » des participant·e·s.
