Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

The nature of quadrupole and octupole collectivity in $^{222}\mathrm{Rn}$ was investigated by determining the electric-quadrupole ($E2$) and octupole ($E3$) matrix elements using subbarrier, multistep Coulomb excitation. The radioactive $^{222}\mathrm{Rn}$ beam, accelerated to 4.23 MeV/u, was provided by the HIE-ISOLDE facility at CERN. Data were collected in the Miniball $\ensuremath{\gamma}$-ray spectrometer following the bombardment of two targets, $^{120}\mathrm{Sn}$ and $^{60}\mathrm{Ni}$. Transition $E2$ matrix elements within the ground-state and octupole bands were measured up to $10\ensuremath{\hbar}$ and the results were consistent with a constant intrinsic electric-quadrupole moment, $518(11)\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}e\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{fm}}^{2}$. The values of the intrinsic electric-octupole moment for the ${0}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{3}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ and ${2}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{5}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ transitions were found to be respectively ${2360}_{\ensuremath{-}210}^{+300}\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}e\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{fm}}^{3}$ and ${2300}_{\ensuremath{-}500}^{+300}\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}e\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{fm}}^{3}$ while a smaller value, ${1200}_{\ensuremath{-}900}^{+500}\phantom{\rule{4pt}{0ex}}e\phantom{\rule{0.16em}{0ex}}{\mathrm{fm}}^{3}$, was found for the ${2}^{+}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{1}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ transition. In addition, four excited non-yrast states were identified in this work via $\ensuremath{\gamma}\text{\ensuremath{-}}\ensuremath{\gamma}$ coincidences.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. The Gemma side is a direct model label for every work in the frame, read from the title-only record. The Codex side is a classifier learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and calibrated to design-weighted sample rates; fields without enough sample support carry no Codex call. Candidate is the union of the two sides; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
