Abstract
Blind Spot—Staring Down the Void est un dialogue en français et en anglais dans lequel Carole Nadeau et Karen Kipphoff proposent des réflexions en aval de leur collaboration à une performance, réalisée avec quatre autres artistes issus de cultures et de disciplines artistiques différentes et qui n’avaient jamais travaillé ensemble. Le projet performatif Blindspot a évolué à travers des laboratoires; il a été présenté à l’Academy of Performing Arts du collège universitaire Østfold à Fredrikstad, ainsi qu’au Festival Meteor, à Bergen, en Norvège. Le dialogue est une conversation épistolaire et une réflexion sur le processus, les constats et les écueils de cette recherche-création dans lequel on accorde une attention particulière aux rencontres marquées par ce que nous appelons des « points aveugles » – angles morts culturels et taches aveugles physiques; à la création de contenu en vue d’une performance dans une démarche sans direction ni hiérarchie; aux différences culturelles et processuelles; aux diverses approches des matériaux; aux nouveaux matérialismes; au dessin en tant que posture performative; et à la documentation. Cette performance est le premier des trois volets – les autres étant une exposition et une publication – de la recherche artistique Blind Spot : Staring Down the Void, qui a eu lieu entre 2016 et 2020.
