Abstract
Comme le passage de la vie à la mort, le passage du monde utérin à celui que nous connaissons est mystérieux, et a ainsi été accompagné, à travers l’histoire et les cultures, par des croyances et des pratiques rituelles. Pourtant, on se questionne : la spiritualité demeure-t-elle pertinente dans l’accouchement contemporain, particulièrement dans des sociétés telles le Québec traversées en quelques décennies par des changements sociaux profonds dans la pratique religieuse et le sentiment spirituel ? Dans cette contribution, les résultats de la démarche doctorale par méthodologie de théorisation ancrée constructiviste illustrent le processus spirituel des femmes vivant un accouchement vaginal, en quatre moments : « faire face à l’inconnu », « plonger » (affirmation spirituelle), « sentir plus grand en/hors moi » (expérience spirituelle) et « accoucher de moi-même » (transformation spirituelle).
