2Œuvre d'un grand admirateur de la matière de France, le Guerrin Meschino fut traduit en français par Jean de Rochemeure dans la seconde moitié du XV e siecle.Cette traduction, dont il est difficile de reconnaître avec précision le modèle italien, est conservée dans deux manuscrits autographes (Cambridge, Fitzwilliam Musem, mss. 25 et 26), qui nous révèlent la technique du traducteur: selon les pratiques du Moyen Age tardif, celui-ci se fait tour à tour «scriptor», traducteur au sens propre, commentateur, voire auteur à part entière.3 MAUREEN BOULTON, Jean Galopes, traducteur des «Meditationes Vitae Christi» pp.91-102.Jean Galopes traduisit en français les Meditationes, composées en Italie au début du XIV e siecle, entre 1420 et 1422 pour le roi Henry V d'Angleterre.Se conformant aux habitudes de son temps, le traducteur adapte le texte à un public et à un milieu différents de ceux du traité original: tout en se montrant globalement fidèle à la source, Traduction dérimation compilation -La Phraséologie, Actes du Colloque intern...
