Abstract

Background/Purpose: The following presentation has the purpose of taking into consideration the important role mental health providers play within the interdisciplinary team to promote culturally competent psychoeducation in Latinx women with vulvar cancer. The prevalence of gynecological cancers in the Latinx community is increasing. The importance of psychoeducation to understand and apply new skills on how to request a second medical opinion serves as a tool to inform and empower in their decision-making process. Plus, promoting the reduction of stigma for this type of cancer in underserved populations within interprofessional teams.
