Abstract
Cet article se propose d’analyser la traduction anglais/français de la préposition with . Face à ce problème, traduire ou ne pas traduire with , nous avons établi un corpus de citations, extraites de Far From The Madding Crowd , de Thomas Hardy. Ces exemples sont bien sûr datés mais la discussion des choix de traduction que nous proposons s’inscrit dans une approche synchronique dans laquelle le style particulier à l’auteur est un adjuvant et ne représente pas une contrainte.
