Abstract

fetched live from OpenAlex

It's been reaffirmed that the 2006 SEG Annual Meeting will be in New Orleans as scheduled. That sounds straightforward until you recall the devastation caused by Hurricane Katrina. It is not necessary to relive that disaster to understand the consternation in SEG's upper echelons. The “what if” brigade was out in full battle dress. What if all of the hotels and restaurants are still closed in October? Worse yet, what if the French Quarter is shut down? What if no one shows up? What if there are no hospitals, fire stations, or beignets (pastry covered with powdered sugar)? Actually, all of these are important considerations. I have personally been asked what I thought about having the convention in New Orleans in 2006. A lot of things cross your mind when considering that question. You recall the Riverwalk, Jackson Square, and Café du Monde (chicory coffee and beignets) … restaurants like Commander's Palace, Arnaud's, Brennan's, Antoine's, Tony Moran's, the Court of Two Sisters, and many others whose names I can't remember … and that you may be able to sample the étouffée, filé gumbo, eggs Sardou, boudin rouge, pain perdu … and, if you are lucky, you may stumble across jambalaya.

Not calibrated prevalence, not ground truth. Human validation pending. Learned from the 10,348 direct Codex labels and 10,348 direct Gemma labels. Candidate is the union of thresholded teacher heads; consensus is their intersection. These outputs are machine_predicted_unvalidated and are not human labels or direct frontier model labels.

Machine scores (provisional)

The two teacher heads of the student model, read on this work. A score orders the frame for review; it never asserts a category, and the validation status ships verbatim with every row.

Baseline scores from an immature model (maturity gate not passed, 7 training rounds). Scores rank; they never assert a category.
