 Manusia tidak pernah lepas dari segala masalah yang berhubungan dengan tempat dimana manusia bernauang dalam kehidupan sehari – hari . Memilih perumahan sesuai dengan kebutuhan bukanlah hal yang mudah, apalagi di Desa Air Santok terdapat beberapa komplek perumahan yang sangat diminati para konsumen. Semakin meningkatnya pertumbuhan penduduk membuat semakin meningkatnya kebutuhan tempat tinggal. Desa Air Santok mengalami pertumbuhan penduduk setiap tahunnya, hal ini disebabkan terdapatnya perumahan di Desa Air Santok. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan deskriptif. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan kuesioner dan observasi lapangan. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui faktor pemilihan perumahan di Desa Air Santok Kecamatan Pariaman Timur Kota Pariaman sebagai tempat tinggal (studi kasus perumahan Villa Mutiara resident II dan perumahan Tata Bhakri IV). Faktor pemilihan perumahan ditinjau dari faktor utama yang terdiri dari harga, dekat tempat kerja dan jauh dari potensi ancaman bencana alam sedangkan faktor pendukung yaitu dekat ke rumah orang tua, lingkungan perumahan dan keamanan lingkungan. Hasil akhir penelitian berupa faktor utama pemilihan perumahan Villa Mutiara resident II dan perumahan Tata Bhakri IV adalah jauh dari potensi anacaman bencana alam. Faktor pendukung pemilihan perumahanVilla Mutiara resident II adalah lingkungan perumahan, sedangkan perumahan Tata Bhakri IV adalah dekat rumah orang tua.
