Abstract
FLORESTAN FERNANDES - Durante 25 anos lecionou Sociologia na Universidade de São Paulo, de onde foi afastado, em 1969, como professor catedrático. Lecionou durante três anos na Universidade de Toronto (Canadá) e tem sido frequentemente convidado por inúmeras instituições universitárias e de pesquisas do exterior a ? m de prestar colaboração em nível de cursos de pós-graduação, orientação de pesquisas etc. Tem participado de inúmeros congressos e seminários internacionais como conferencista e como relator de pesquisas. Autor de um extenso número de artigos, ensaios e de livros, dos quais destacamos: Fundamentos Empíricos da Explicação Sociológica, Ensaios de Sociologia Geral e Aplicada, Capitalismo Dependente e Classes Sociais na América Latina, Sociedade de Classes e Subdesenvolvimento, O Negro no Mundo dos Brancos, A Integração do Negro na Sociedade de Classes, Mudanças Sociais no Brasil, A Revolução Burguesa no Brasil e Circuito Fechado. O depoimento que se segue, além de sua excepcional e provocante riqueza em termos de re? exão teórica e crítica, revela-nos igualmente uma ? gura de rara grandeza humana. O mínimo que podemos dizer, nós, que também procuramos “vincular a investigação cientí? ca e ? losó? ca à transformação da sociedade”, é que de Florestan Fernandes somos todos aprendizes.
