Abstract
CAPCSD Is the Newest Affiliate Society to IALPIALP welcomes the Council of Academic Programs in Communication Sciences and Disorders (CAPCSD), an American association founded in 1978, currently with 260 members, as the newest Affiliate Society to our organization, type B. The mission of this Council is 'to promote quality, accessibility and innovation in communication sciences and disorders in higher education'.The CAPCSD aims to advance the highest standards in pedagogy, clinical background and research.Moreover, one of their important goals is to facilitate recruitment, education and retention of both faculty and students to meet the public need.The Council president is Michael Kimbarow, PhD.The CAPSCD supports programs worldwide that educate undergraduate and graduate students in the communication sciences and disorders.They represent over 2,000 academic, clinical and administrative staff members affiliated with over 260 institutions in the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.A planned conference for 2012, April 18th to 21st, in Newport Beach, Calif., is getting organized with the main theme 'Sustaining Global Alliances', including sessions for leadership development, cooperative problem-solving and information exchange, as well as many other opportunities for learning and networking.For more information, please visit the webpage www.capcsd.org.
