Penelitian ini bertujuan menganalisis rencana pemekaraan wilayah di Kecamatan Koto Tangah Kota Padang dengan mengetahui faktor apa saja yang mempengaruhi rencana pemekaran wilayah di Kecamatan Koto Tangah ditinjau dari persyaratan administrasi, fisik kewilayahan dan teknis berdasarkan Peraturan Pemerinthan No. 19 Tahun 2008 Tentang Kecamatan. Adapun metode penelitian yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kuantitatif dengan pendekatan keruangan. Wilayah penelitian ini adalah Kecamatan Koto Tangah dengan seluruh kelurahan yang ada. Teknik analisis yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah studi literasi, wawancara dan formulasi yang digunakan mengacu ke Peraturan Pemerinthan No. 19 Tahun 2008 Tentang Kecamatan. Analisis kelayakan rencana pemekaran wilayah Kecamatan Koto Tangah dianalisis berdasarkan persyaratan administrasi, fisik kewilayahan dan teknis. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dari persyaratan administrasi belum layak dimekarkan, sedangkan secara fisik kewilayahan sudah layak dimekarkan dan secara teknis juga sudah layak untuk dimekarkan.
