Les articles composant le numéro 17 de Géolinguistique présentent une variété importante d’approches. Les premiers articles entrent plutôt dans une thématique traditionnelle, avec tout d’abord une réflexion sur le mot sel, dont les acceptions sont tirées de la carte linguistique originale de l’ALF puis de sa version cartographique plus moderne, le tout présenté par un chercheur japonais. Le deuxième article est une représentation à travers un atlas sonore des langues régionales de France, projet déjà amorcé il y a 20 ans à Grenoble pour la partie alpine. Cette fois la vision est nationale et donc beaucoup plus large. S’ensuit une recherche basée sur la redécouverte et l’analyse dialectométrique des enquêtes réalisées il y a plus d’un siècle par le linguiste Bourciez au Pays Basque. Puis et pour la première fois dans notre revue, une participation très attendue sur les langues sifflées dans le monde, qui réunit plusieurs approches : de l’enquête de terrain à l’enregistrement et l’analyse de ces langues et les techniques adoptées qui varient d’une culture à l’autre. Enfin les deux derniers articles font référence à la transmission de la langue en domaine occitan pour le premier et au sein d’une communauté portugaise émigrée au Canada pour le second.
