L’entretien, qu’il soit individuel ou collectif, au-delà d’être une simple technique de collecte d’informations, consiste en une relation sociale. De ce fait, son usage, son déroulement ainsi que sa structure sont influencés par le contexte social. Cela est notamment prégnant pour les entrevues réalisées en milieu rural où le groupe social et les normes sociales influencent le déroulement et la structure de l’entretien. Le présent article analyse, à partir de cas observés de transformation d’interviews individuels en interviews collectifs et vice-versa lors de deux enquêtes dans trois localités rurales de la Côte d’Ivoire, l’influence du cadre social sur la structure de l’entretien. Concrètement, il décrit le processus et les circonstances de changement de structure des entretiens, analyse les déterminants de ces transformations ainsi que certaines implications théoriques et méthodologiques.
