Abstract
D’usage multiforme au coeur de la recherche qualitative, le don a fait l’objet d’une théorisation sous les angles culturaliste, moderniste et mercantiliste. Dans le contexte actuel de son usage, les représentations que se font les Africains, notamment les Baoulés et les Bétés de Côte d’Ivoire, fédèrent les trois points de vue théoriques. Cependant, l’examen de la scientificité de l’usage du don pour la mobilisation des points de vue dans la recherche qualitative a révélé que le succès ou l’échec de la pratique des entretiens individuels et des focus groups, incombent moins aux rapports des populations à cette pratique qu’à l’organisation sociale des communautés.
