1Au départ de ce livre une affaire de village, d'un tout petit village corse, Lama, où s'affrontent deux anciens amis, Stefano Monti et Fabiano Bartoli, curés de leur état, le premier ayant été le maître du second.La querelle s'est nouée autour d'une calomnie, Fabiano accusant publiquement Stefano de forniquer avec des femmes.Accusation grave qui porte atteinte au statut du prêtre, à sa place dans la société et qui ne peut rester sans réponse.Celle-ci prend la forme d'une longue lettre de 43 feuillets et 150 000 signes qu'Antoine Franzini nous donne à lire dans sa version originale en langue italienne et dans une traduction de bon aloi.En fait il s'agit d'un pamphlet, répondant à toutes les lois d'un genre qui s'épanouira durant la période révolutionnaire avec les outrances que l'on connaît.Car le thème central de cet écrit tourne autour de la sexualité non seulement dans le rapport homme/femme y compris dans ses déviances, mais aussi dans ce qui fait la personnalité de Fabiano : c'est un « efféminé » !Et nous voici plongé, comme le souligne Jean-Clément Martin, et grâce à l'érudition de l'auteur qui ajoute à sa qualité d'historien une formation de psychanalyste, dans l'investigation de tout le « paysage social, politique et culturel de la
