Abstract
La base metodológica es el concepto de paratextualidad delineado por Genette en el contexto más amplio de su poética general sobre la transtextualidad; este trabajo se concentra en particular en el uso de la nota alográfica en la traducción de algunas obras de Andrea Camilleri y de Arturo Pérez-Reverte. El objetivo es demostrar, incluso con datos bastante parciales, que el uso de notas alográficas en las traducciones de estos autores es de gran utilidad para dar una idea concreta de las variedades lingüísticas y de la cultura de los países de origen. La inclusión de notas a pie de página en una traducción no implica una admisión de incompetencia por parte del traductor, sino que revela la voluntad ética de compartir con un lector extranjero las opciones, la lengua y las estrategias de un autor de otro país, para hacer percibir la inconmensurabilidad de las diferencias entre culturas - que, sin embargo, no impide la comunicación -, como valor y no como derrota.
