Abstract
Cette opération de diagnostic archéologique a été réalisée dans la partie occidentale du Domaine départemental de Sceaux, aux abords du Pavillon de Hanovre, en prévision d’une requalification du secteur. Depuis 1931, ce bâtiment du XVIIIe siècle, partiellement déplacé du boulevard des Italiens de Paris, se dresse en position éminente dans le parc, au centre d’un vaste rond-point participant à une mise en scène paysagère. Les aménagements mis au jour traduisent la restauration du parc sous la direction de l’architecte Léon Azéma (1888-1978), avec de vastes allées pavées et bitumées et la présence de bosquets. Des dépotoirs et des fosses de plantation, remplis de gravats, révèlent le vaste chantier des années 1930. Ces travaux ont raboté les sédiments au point qu’un seul témoin du parcellaire ancien reste perceptible, sans pouvoir être précisément daté. Cette partie du domaine, acquise par Antoine Colbert de Seignelay (1651-1690) sur les terres agricoles du chapitre de Paris (seigneurie de Châtenay), est aux confins des territoires de Sceaux, Antony et Châtenay-Malabry, loin des centres de peuplement connus par les archives ou l’archéologie. Ce diagnostic a été l’occasion d’une synthèse documentaire sur le Pavillon de Hanovre et sur le Parc de Sceaux.
