Abstract
A Constituição Federal de 1988 apresenta a saúde como um direito do cidadão, sendo idealizada para atender a todas às necessidades que se apresentarem. A história demonstra que o surgimento de um sistema nacional de saúde foi uma luta constante da sociedade, que no princípio era atendida pelos órgãos caritativos da Igreja, sendo uma medicina que zelava pelo sentido curativo, diferentemente do atual modelo, que prima por uma ação preventiva, observando os diferentes fatores que influenciam nas condições de saúde. Desta maneira, a presente pesquisa se firma na análise da saúde pública brasileira, examinando o atual cenário sociopolítico e os constantes interesses escusos que conduzem ao descrédito da população e ao consequente desmonte das políticas públicas. Destarte, para a efetivação desta pesquisa, foi empregado o método de abordagem dedutivo, tendo em vista se partir da saúde pública de forma geral e se especificar no Sistema Único de Saúde (SUS). Os métodos de procedimentos utilizados foram o histórico, pelo qual se buscou investigar os fatores que marcaram a história da saúde no Brasil, as evoluções judiciárias, bem como a garantia constitucional deste direito; pelo estatístico, são expostos dados que comprovam a relevância do Sistema Único de Saúde e a sua cobertura nacional, que assegura apoio à população.
