Abstract
La maison française Lapierre produit au XIXe siècle des lanternes jouets, accompagnées de séries de plaques destinées notamment aux enfants, et dont la projection a lieu dans le cercle familial - qu'on pense à la projection par la grand-tante du narrateur de La Recherche.Comment les images guident-elles la manipulation des plaques Lapierre par les projectionnistes amateurs ? Et quels effets de sens la manipulation des plaques peut-elle créer ?En croisant des connaissances approfondies sur la technique des lanternes à une approche pragmatique des séries de plaque, je montrerai, par l'analyse de plusieurs exemples (la chanson Cadet Rousselle, le récit de Geneviève de Brabant), que les Lapierre ont une conscience profonde des possibilités narratives et expressives de leur médium, qui se déploie en termes de cadrage, de mouvement de l'image, ou encore de répartition des images entre les différentes plaques.
