O Acidente Vascular Encefálico (AVE) ocorre quando problemas na irrigação sanguínea do cérebro causam a morte celular, o que faz com que partes do cérebro deixem de funcionar, ocasionando disfunção do sistema motor e/ou cognitivo.A recuperação do dano funcional depende da plasticidade neuronal, ou seja, da capacidade de regeneração e reorganização neuronal.Dentre os recursos terapêuticos que podem auxiliar na restauração das funções afetadas destaca-se a Terapia de Contensão Induzida (TCI).A associação dessa técnica com a realidade virtual pode tornar-se uma nova abordagem na área da reabilitação.Objetivo: Analisar o desempenho funcional da terapia de contensão induzida em ambiente real e virtual em pessoas pós acidente vascular Cerebral.Método: A avaliação inicial foi composta pelos questionários: Moving Activity Log (MAL), escala Fugl-Meyer, Wolf Motor Function Test, Mini Exame do Estado Mental e Orpington.Todos os pacientes selecionados seguiram o protocolo da TCI, utilizando quatro Shaping (colocar blocos em cima da caixa; limpar a mesa; colocar palitos em uma garrafa; feijão e colher).Desta forma, 10 pessoas pós-AVE realizaram dois protocolos de intervenção.Ou seja, foram divididos em dois grupos de 5 participantes cada: um grupo realizarou 10 sessões de intervenção conforme proposta da TCI real e outro grupo realizarou 10 sessões por meio da terapia de realidade virtual (TCI virtual).Após esta intervenção, os grupos foram trocados (crossover).Ou seja, ambos os grupos realizaram mais 10 sessões de intervenção com troca de protocolo (participantes que realizaram intervenção na TCI real, inicialmente, agora realizaram na TCI virtual e vice versa).Os resultados permitirãam verificar se a TCI real e a utilização de tarefa virtual (TCI virtual) proporcionam melhoras funcionais para pessoas pós-acidente vascular encefálico.
